New York, NY (CapitalWirePR) December 4, 2009 – Anna Carbonell, Vice President of Press and Public Affairs for NYC’s NBC 4 and Telemundo 47, will receive the “LISTA 2009 Trailblazers Award” from the Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) at its National Technology Achievers Awards Gala in New York, December 8, 2009.
LISTA’s “Trailblazers Award” identifies and recognizes accomplished individuals who have made a substantive mark in their respective industries while demonstrating a lifelong commitment to the empowerment of the Hispanic community.
Carbonell serves as a member of the NBC Diversity Council and directs the stations' press and community service efforts throughout the Tri-State area, a position she assumed in July 2002. She also advises senior management as to best practices and corporate policy for securing and maintaining a highly qualified and diverse workforce.
Carbonell first joined Channel 4 in July 1995 as Director of Station Relations and Executive Producer for the station's public affairs programs Visiones and Positively Black, also serving as host of Visiones for almost two years. In May 2000, she was named Director of Press and Public Affairs, adding the press relations responsibilities for the station to her existing community responsibilities.

Named one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the Nation by Hispanic Business Magazine and recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Latinos in New York by New York Daily News, Carbonell has received numerous industry honors and recognitions throughout her career. Her many board memberships and industry affiliations include roles with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Mexican American Legal Defense Fund as well as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense Fund. She was also appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to the Latin Media and Entertainment Commission, which is responsible for attracting major Latin events to New York City.
